TheTAZZone was formed on December 24th, 2005…it was derived from a series of Blogs…which were themselves the result of a growing dissatisfaction with forum communities….basically, we decided we could create something better…and we have.
TheTAZZone is a friendly community of network and security experts, artists, and everyday people. We provide a member-controlled forum enviroment, a relaxed chat room, a nice break in the games room, free services to members, and are ever striving to create additions and improvements on a regular basis.
We hope you will join our growing community and share your knowledge and experience, we welcome new members and encourage you to invite your friends.
We want to create the best experience on the net and we welcome you to come along for the ride…wherever that ride takes us.
THE TAZ WAY
Whoring our way into History
Yes…we plan to take over the Internet World one post at a time…we will crush our enemies
( slams boot on desk ) and maim and torture
our foes ( pretty cool
huh? )… OK…seriously…we have no intention
of crushing, maiming, or torturin…
however…we do have plans to spank, tickle, slap, and violate!
Oooooh!…we knew you’d like that…you sick, twisted, little freak you!
A Brief History of TAZ
August 20th, 2005
We start the blogs…Egalitarian Graphics , Jinxy’s Hideaway, Debs Dungeon, The Und3rtak3r’s Realm, The Fox House, The Anti-Lounge, Eleven Dot Dot Com, and others…
December 22nd, 2005

as a temporary home until a more permanent home can be found.
December 24th, 2005
The Forum is Started…In less than 20 days
we have 30 members and over 2000 posts and things are looking good as the search engines were starting to pick us up.
DECEMBER 27TH, 2005
Our website is Official…
and we get the domain name
JANUARY 16TH, 2006
a series of setbacks…several downtimes,
e-mails not working, database problems, and people having trouble connecting to the site, logging-on, and registering…
time to move the site.
Work begins on the TAZ website
primarily as a result of the problems encountered at the
TAZ Forums the website becomes the
MARCH 6TH, 2006
We are starting to realize our goals. Many members are
now standing up and taking a personal interest in the
site; a sign that they are taking control of the forum;
which was the original intent.
To have a member-run and controlled forum…
it’s future is now in their hands and the future looks very promising.
JUNE 19TH, 2006
On this day we reached our first 20,000 posts
…5 days before our 6th month anniversary.
AUGUST 5TH, 2006
Back in the first week of July we experienced our first real influx of visitors from Digg as a result of tutorials by nokia and J_K9. Membership rose from less than 100 to over 200, and now sits at over 300.
Also, to note, we are quickly approaching the 30,000 mark in posts…we presently sit at
29,905 and will surpass 30,000 by the end
of the day.
JUNE 10TH, 2007
Guess it’s time to update again…in the last 6 months we’ve added two more domains ( TheTAZZone.net and TheTAZZone.org )…and more recently more forums ( No Guts No Glory, TAZ CycleStop, Women Rule, TheSecurityZone, and TheSportsEmporium )…the forum ( TAZForum ) is now over 76,000 posts strong with approx. 1500 members…because we
don’t exaggerate our stats and our forums are AD-Free there’s really no need to…so…we
delete Spam accounts and duplicate accounts and neglected accounts regularly…otherwise our membership would be well into 5000 by now…seriously!
Anyways…what else?…the website ( TheTAZZone.com ) has had another face-lift…well…not yet, at the time of writing
this it hasn’t been put up or finished yet….but
by the time you read this it will be.
SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2007
Work has started on a new website for TheTAZZone.com….this version…the 5th

JUNE 24TH, 2008
We then added two more domains.
Da Boss…in charge of everything…if there’s a problem he’s the go-to-guy…co-founder of the TAZ and Master Spam Destroyer.
Our Database Expert…no one goes in there to do anything but him…all upgrades, improvements, etc are a credit to his genius.
Co-founder of the TAZ…basically we have no idea what he does…or even why he’s an Admin except that he he keeps muckin’ with the site.
ADMINISTRATOR OF TAZFORUM
A tutorial whiz…there’s no doubt the man knows his stuff…and unlike most tutorial writers he’s willing to go the extra mile to help.
ADMINISTRATOR OF TAZFORUM and TAZ KnowledgeBase
Our resident Bulldog…in charge of abusing, maiming, hanging, and mutilating anyone, for pretty much any reason.
ADMINISTRATOR OF TAZFORUM
kinda like Eg…we’re not really sure what he does…at least he doesn’t muck around.
THE VOICE OF REASON IN A SEA OF WTF
Committees are formed by the Members, not the Administration,
and can be formed by any member for any reason.
Members can, at any time, for any reason,
form a Committee
A Committe must have at least 11 members
A Committee can be permanent or temporary
To be Official a permanent Committee must
have regular meetings ( at least twice
a month ) involving at least 9 members at
To be Official a temporary Committee must
meet ( with all 11 members attending ) and
come to a formal resolution
A formal resolution is taking a topic to it’s conclusion…where all members agree
A Membership Committee cannot have more than one active Administrator in it’s ranks
WHY HAVE MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEES?
Members have the right to not only voice their opinion/s but also implement or cause the implementation of those opinions
To do so, however, there must be a consensus on the part of the Committee
Unresolved, or issues without the full support
of the Committee cannot be considered valid
Once a Committee has reached a consensus and a conclusion it is then brought forth to the active Administrators
For final approval and implementation it must receive the rubber stamp of at least 5 ( half )
of the present 11 Administrators
All reasonable requests should have no problem getting the support of the
Moderators are responsible for keeping their forums free from spam, acting as an advocate on the behalf of newbies, intervening to
prevent flames, making and placing relevant stickies, un-sticking old or no-longer-relevant stickies, making judgment calls like closing threads, moving threads, editing posts, PMing warnings, etc…
Moderators are chosen from the membership based upon their sensibilty, trustworthyness, and forum activity.
Generally, a member can be moved up to moderator within a very short period of time…some active moderators became moderators after only a couple months.
Every 3 or 4 months the Administration does
a general forum clean-up
Among other things this clean-up involves de-modding inactive mods, and replacing positions with new moderators.
During this clean-up moderators can request new positions, and members can request moderator positions.
Changes and alterations are at the sole discretion of the Administrator performing the forum clean-up.
Disputes regarding the clean-up can be taken
up with the Administrator performing the clean-up or through a Committee.
