Being Part Of The Problem
Last night our President spoke about the current crisis in the Gulf of Mexico. This, of course, resulted in some people bashing him and some people supporting him. What surprised me was the bashing that took place against Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews from MSNBC. They were both questioning what they found lacking in the Presidents address and suddenly their loyal Twitter followers were branding them both as Haters. Can’t we listen to others viewpoint without the name calling?
I saw a President who is deeply emotionally involved in this issue and has no idea what to do about it. I have a hot flash for you folks, NOBODY has any idea what to do. For 40 years the oil companies have been drilling and creating oil spills, yet, THEY’VE NEVER CREATED A SOLUTION for the problem. They’ve gotten away with that because America Needs More Oil!
We Americans are really great at sitting online in Twitter spreading lies and misinformation. We’re great at watching Fox News and believing that the US refused other nation’s help in the gulf because the idiots on Fox News says so. For you people who were behind the door when Geography was taught in school, Holland is part of The Netherlands and The Netherlands ALL READY HAVE SHIPS IN THE GULF! No qualified offer was refused. ONLY those countries who don’t have compatable technology were refused.
There are 15 nations in the Gulf now helping BP and NOTHING is changing. Canada, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, the United Nations’ International Maritime Organization and the European Union’s Monitoring and Information Centre are ALL presently providing assistance in the Gulf.
We sit on our butts in front of a computer screen and spout off about the situation. At the same time we are out buying our new gas guzzling SUV’s and ever larger pick-up trucks, buying our bottled water in case lots, and purchasing our new tech toys. All of which require crude oil to manufacture. Crude oil, which is now ruining our ecology, and making Twitter users angry over the death of all those animals. Animals that they could be volunteering to try to save. Animals that wouldn’t be in this predicament if Americans had really looked into alternative energies instead of over using the ones we have.
