THE DATABASE WIZARD

Hello, and welcome to my area of
The TAZ Zone!

At the moment this is a static page, however once i pull my finger out, i might be
able to make it more dynamic… don’t know
how yet, but thats the idea.

Anyway please read on and find out all about me.

Enjoy!

I am mainly responsible for the TAZ Forum
and if any changes are made over there,
then it is a good bet that I probably made them. So far the additions and changes
that have been made have been primarily administrative, and the first proper change
that members noticed came when I added the links a member quotes section. Currently
I am working on a new Index page which can
be viewed here and eventually I plan
to have a number of different index’s where the user can choose which one they like in there profile.

Well, I was born in 1981 and grew up in Kent
in England. I have always had a
fascination with computers which can probably be blamed on my father. He always had a work laptop and if I remember correctly the first
game that I played on it was Elite. Ah I used to love that game, anyway as time moved on the next game that I can really properly remember was Doom. The best part about Doom IMHO
was its multiplayer ability and when my
cousins would come round they would bring there desktop with them so that we could hook them up with a serial cable.

Anyway as far as how I actually learnt about computers goes, it is mainly self taught.
Initially I used to learn by borrowing my fathers laptop, breaking it in some way (not
deliberately) and then panicking and eventually fixing what I had done before he realised. But
as I grew up started to actually understand
what different bits did. My knowledge really ballooned the day that our faithful P90 packed up. We couldn’t get it to work so my dad took it to the tech guys where he worked, they pronounced it officially dead, however they had a spare P100 sitting on the shelf and he took it off there hands for about £50 I believe.

Well that was great, however the best was still to come, a couple of months later he managed
to purchase another spare P100 from them, and also this time an 8 port hub.
Well, I was in heaven, suddenly rather than having to use serial cables I had a network.
From there the rest is history (although a rather large portion of that history is taken up with
Red Alert, Warcraft 2 and Starcraft).

I eventually did a Computer Science course at University where I primarily learnt PHP and
that is what has got me here today.
…final words…

if anyone has any comments then please post them in the forum, or if you don’t want to go public with them, then I can always be
reached by PM or by e-mail:

So that is me, hope you enjoy your time here
and I’ll see you around

DAFOXX
OTHERWISE KNOWN AS FOXYLOXLEY

What do I do

Well; I am one of the two who started this
entire venture, a project for which, I am
certain, that history will show led me down
the slippery slope of wine women and song [oops, too late on all three counts] I am responsible and I use the word loosely, for
the day to day administration of the forum,
whilst Shipp goes about his business in the background, I’m the guy up front and centre,
the one where the buck stops at.

But enough waffle : What, exactly, do I do ?
Now that’s a VERY good question, and one
that I believe requires a very good answer.
So, when I think of one, I shall return here
and post it.

A [VERY] brief history of DaFox :
I was born in a time when men were men
and crisps only came in one flavour [potato]
I was born and raised in Cheshire UK, and
didn’t even know computers existed [admin
edit they didn't] so I decided to be an
electrician, and plyed my trade for thirty years, and in that time I found that more and more
[read ALL] machines were becoming PC controlled, not just PLC now, but a full blown
IC chip in their metal heart

This fascinated me, and when the chance to leave came [redundancy is SUCH a dirty word]
I took the money and scooted off to do an intensive IT hardware course, this allowed
me to get onto the IT ladder [bottom] and since then, the only way is UP [which seeing as I'm
on the BOTTOM of the ladder should come as
no surprise] I am studying for my CCNA, and
am already beginning to find that here in IT the studying will NEVER stop, as I really need to comprehend servers in their entirety, as well
as being able to make them talk to each other.

As for my humorous side, I don’t seem to have one.
And PC games are not a good thing for me, I
did manage to finish Red Alert though, although by the time I HAD finished, everyone else was getting into Half Life

So, my time on our very own games server
will be precious to me.
Short, but precious.

Final Words :
If you want to know more, then join in
If you don’t like the glare of publicity that
comes from talking to an internet megastar.
