Riders On The Storm
With everything that’s going on in Washington, DC today, Twitter is hopping with information. Some of it false, some of it misguided. With the exception of a small group of Progressives who are trying to make people see something, most of it is designed to create hysteria. That hysteria benefits no one except the Progressives who are trying to keep their lofty position as Professional Progressive Bloggers. People, who no one in real life have actually heard of, make their living creating drama, and money. Let us not forget the money.
The very same people who told their followers to stay home in 2010 to teach President Obama a lesson, are now howling because they allowed the Tea Party to get elected to Congress. They did that because he didn’t accomplish all of THEIR agenda in his first few months in office. Then, once they took away any semblance of sanity in Congress, President Obama is the bad guy because he can’t get anything done.
By all means, let’s not admit any fault in that matter. No, lets jump on every lame idea proffered by Independent Senator Bernie Sanders who is calling for a primary challenge against the President, and the invocation of the 14th Amendment to end this debt ceiling crisis. Propaganda works, trust me on that. They’re totally ignoring one of the basic tenets of building. Nothing will survive a storm that isn’t built on a solid foundation.
They haven’t dug themselves a foundation that will allow them to ride out the storm. As a result they’re blowing in the wind rather than standing firm and fighting for what they need, what WE the People need. It’s almost as if the phrase “because I said so” was going to win the day against the well oiled, well entrenched GOP machine.
They sit behind their computers making statements like: “Compromise isn’t caving, and Obama caved”. When you take away his support, what do you expect? And NO he isn’t caving. He’s trying to work the best deal he can without the support of the people who call themselves his “base”. Now that’s as shaky a foundation as I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.
Ever since the actor became President, the Republicans have been working to build a base on which to support their agenda. No matter how bad it is, they’ve succeeded to such a degree that President Obama has gotten the blame, in the eyes of the uninformed, for everything the GOP and Bush managed to do to this country. In addition to their own well entrenched machine, they are getting assistance in a big way from those Professional Progressives.
They are keeping the hysteria to a fever pitch so that friend turns against friend, so that screams drown out the ears of those who should listen. All of this reminds me of a couple of quotes attributed to Dwight D. Eisenhower. A Republican who served when that particular party was one of honor rather than self aggrandizement and thievery.
“A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.”
And, “I despise people who go to the gutter on either the right or the left and hurl rocks at those in the center.”
Certain Professional Progressives valued their privileges above their principles, if they had any principles to begin with, and they’ve been sitting on the left throwing rocks both at those in the center and at those who dare to defy them.
They can call me anything they want to call me and in the end I’m going to know I did my very best. I didn’t allow my disappointments to cause me to quit fighting. I picked myself up, and kept marching forward in an attempt to support what I believe is the best chance Liberals have to achieve our ends.
