ROGER SANCHEZ SET TO PIONEER NEXT STAGE OF HOUSE MUSIC
Legendary American house music DJ Roger Sanchez is leading the way in revitalising and pushing forward the growing takeover of house music in 2015. The 47-year old has helped pioneer the international house music scene over the years and in 2015 it’s expected to take another drastic growth. Sanchez, one of the most influential and experienced DJ’s still on the scene today, has enjoyed a long-running career working alongside some of the biggest names in music.
The world renowned Roger Sanchez is famous for his hit single “Another Chance“, which managed to reach number 1 in the UK charts back in 2001. But you’d be forgiven not to know that he also produces, remixes, promotes, hosts his own radio show and even founded successful house music label Stealth Records which has represented an impressive line-up of the world of progressive and electronic house music over the past 12 years.
The diversification of the house music scene opened the whole genre up to a mass of sub-variations of exciting new musical stylings. All of which have assisted with the progression of house music both creatively and financially. This diversity, particularly in the 2010’s has attracted masses of new global fans whom have turned their attentions to the exciting sounds of progressive house, electro house, big room house and even the reunification of contemporary house.
And it’s seen Sanchez DJ right across the globe, and in particularly Las Vegas. Sin City is becoming a hotspot for house with the likes of Sanchez filling the dancefloors at Palms and Calvin Harris earning $400,000 per gig at Hakkasan on the strip. And from the casinos of Vegas, Sanchez’s appeal stretches far and wide, recently gigging at an EPT Barcelona party, when during a PokerStars interview he revealed the inspirations behind his incredible music, which spread from latin, to deep house, to techno, all of which have gone on to inspire the next wave of listeners and DJs.
It’s a genre filled to the brim with new listeners, new fans, new musical tastes and a huge line-up of new talent. With such acts as Avicii, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, Afrojack, R3hab, Bingo Players and a whole host of fresh and upcoming DJs all jostling to be the next big thing it’s an exciting time for club music. Even more so for music itself, especially as it bleeds into the mainstream attracting the attentions of big named pop and R&B producers and acts all desperate with work with the likes of the David Guetta’s and the Calvin Harris’s of this next generation of talented DJs.
The aforementioned David Guetta is arguably the biggest name working in house music today. The French DJ’s talents took major prominence in 2009 with his album ‘One Love’. But it was his follow-up album ‘Nothing But the Beat’ a couple of years that truly spring boarded the producer into the stratosphere. The album featured collaborations and contributions from the likes of Taio Cruz, Nicki Minaj, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Afrojack, Chris Brown, Flo Rida, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Timbaland, Jessie J and Sia and absolutely catapulted the sales and the hits to the top of the charts and Guetta himself to the top of the ‘must work with’ list.
Guetta along with fellow DJ’s such as Swedish house star Avicii, Calvin Harris, Benny Benassi as well as musical duos Disclosure and Daft Punk amongst so many, many more have all added to the increasing popularity of the musical genre with more and more opportunities for DJ’s to get their latest tunes heard on a global level.
For fans it’s perfect. Events are popping up in some of the most luxurious and coolest destinations in the world, and with hubs of great scenes popping up everywhere; the genre couldn’t be thriving any more. Sanchez has played a huge part in that. And let’s face it, with him still producing some of the finest tunes in the genre, there’s plenty more to come from him too.
