Be careful what you ask for! I won’t go into details here but I would like to stress the fact that when I ask for something, I believe I make it crystal clear what I’m looking for. I imagine all of us feel that way, so I am normal in that. However, once I receive what I asked for, I notice that most of the time there is more to the answer I get than first meets the eye! That’s when I have to wonder … Is this a test of how much I really want this? Is it a test of my commitment to it? Is it a test of my character? I think the answer to all these questions is ‘Yes, it is!’
I jump in with both feet in everything I undertake! I try to make time for all my interests and activities. I am finding there aren’t enough hours in a day to do everything … so I’ve taken some of the ‘not as important’ items out of my plans. Some things, by their very nature, cannot be removed. These are the ones I struggle with … finding time while working around the ‘have to do’ items.
Currently, I am feeling much pressure to do what has to be done … with dynamics that change daily and sometimes hour by hour. As I try to work through these things I am employing a few relaxation techniques that have served me well in the past.
* Deep Breathing
* Focus on the positive
* Minimize the negative
* Do what I can
* Don’t get depressed when others ask more than I can possibly get done according to ‘their’ time table
* When feeling overwhelmed, do something ‘I Want To Do’ to restore my balance
I confess handling pressure is a day by day effort and not always as successful as I would like it to be for me. I want everyone to realize, as I do, that when we ask for something we don’t consider what might come with the request. We ask for something we know we need or can do. When the going gets tough, as it invariably will, is when we realize we should have been a little more precise in our request. That said, if you find yourself under the gun in any area of your life, take a deep breath and do your best. Don’t let circumstances make you feel defeated or depressed. This post is me doing something ‘I Want To Do.’ 🙂
Don’t let the world and others’ expectations define you: you define your world and your expectations!
If you have any stress relievers that work for you, please feel free to share them! I am always looking for new things that can help me on my life’s journey! I hope at least some of this post has helped you. Thanks for reading!
