Steve Jobs unveiled on Wednesday in San Francisco Apple’s latest creation.
Well, Apple did it again…they combined the iPhone with a Netbook and came up with the middle ground of an iPad. Price: estimated $499US. It has a 9.7 in screen, weighs 1.5 pounds, has Wi-Fi with a 3G option, and claims to have up to 10 hours of battery life. It also uses the ePub format for books and, according to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, seeing as the iPad is running the iPhone OS, the iPad works with “almost all” iPhone apps you can find in the App Store.
There are drawbacks to the iPad…because of the way it’s designed and size it could be uncomfortable to use after long periods of time. There’s also no built-in Webcam, probably due to the addition of 3G connectivity. And seeing as the iPad is running the iPhone OS that means no Adobe Flash, which will limit website viewing and video watching.
It seems that Apple could throw out pretty much anything and consumers would eat it up…willingly and even gleefully. But should every new gadget that flies onto the market be greeted with that kind of enthusiasm?
Does the iPad deserve it…
