The Beauty of Diversity
I was in a conversation the other day with someone regarding, among other topics, the dangerous nature of man. Yes, man is a very dangerous creature, however, what makes man a very dangerous creature also makes man beautiful. And what makes man dangerous and beautiful at the same time is diversity.
All conflicts, whether personal or communal can be broken down to the root cause of diversity. We’re different.
If we were all the same, there would be no conflicts, or at the very least, no reason for them.
I love the fact that we don’t think the same, have the same views, the same beliefs, that we look different, feel different, experience things differently. I think living in a world where we all were the same color, had the same beliefs, the same views, shared the same culture, looked just like each other, would to me be, although more peaceful, horribly boring.
Just going outside and seeing people who are different shapes, sizes, some are ugly some are beautiful, some are white some are black, is, if you really think about it, a wondrous thing. A beautiful thing.
So I don’t care if you don’t agree with me, or if your skin color isn’t the same as mine, or you’re not as intelligent, or more intelligent, or if you practice a different belief, or if you’re fat or skinny, gay or straight, ugly or beautiful…because you make my life more interesting, and I thank you for that.
