Unrest in the Middle East causing rise in gas prices as investors fret over the possibility of shortages. Naturally the price of gas is a concern to Hubby and myself. His business uses a lot of it and due to the fact that I’m traveling to clients these days, so do I. My problem is that I’m aware of how little oil we get from these particular countries and how much oil is delivered via the Suez Canal. All of this is nothing more than Wall Street manipulation. Which our government could do something about, except that politicians need Wall Street money to get elected. So, they benefit from keeping the American public unconscious of exactly what they’re doing, and sadly, they have the complicity of the American Public itself. we’re much too busy gossiping about bad boy Charlie Sheen and everyone loves that train wreck Lindsey Lohan.
Two percent of the WORLDS oil supply is in danger of being impacted by all of these revolutionary rebels. Investors are fretting. Sure they are. They’re fretting that this situation won’t last long enough to dupe the American public into a frenzy of fear. Fear of rising gas prices, and as a direct result of that…rising food prices. Those of us on the lower end of the food chain, say with $50,000 annual incomes and 2 or 3 kids to feed will be worrying about that so they won’t pay attention to Wisconsin’s Governor Walker’s attempt to sell state utilities to the Koch Brothers. I’ve become so cynical, that it occurs to me the attempt at union busting is nothing more than a cover for his other plans.
No matter how you cut it, the bottom line is if Walker gets his way then NO corporation will ever have to pay state tax, and just where do you think the money to run the state is going to come from? I’ll give you a clue. Go look in the mirror because the face that looks back at you will be sharing that burden. Mark my words, in a few years your taxes will skyrocket, while the CEO’s of these big corporations will be sunning themselves in some out of the way South Sea island. Paid for, of course, by all the money their companies didn’t have to pay in taxes.
In case you’re sitting there congratulating yourself on not living in Wisconsin, I wouldn’t do that if I were you. If Walker gets away with it, it’s a safe bet that every other state in the Union will soon follow suit. Of course, there is a slim chance that the American Voter will awake to the hidden agenda of the GOP and Tea Party and shoot down their plans. I wouldn’t count on that too awful much either. However, when the reality of what’s going on actually happens, you can damn well count on me to remind you that “I told you so.”
