I love the UFC, well actually all MMA, been a fan for years, even before the UFC. There’s just something about two guys who willingly go toe to toe and try to come out the victor. You gotta think with the devotion to training they have, and the minimal payout after their coach, trainers, gym, government, etc take their cut, unless they are in the top 15% actually making¬† enough money to live on after all deductions, there must be better opportunities out there for more money with less risk.¬†Especially in the early days when you might not even get paid.

But, this article isn’t about that, it’s about UFC 242. What can you say about Khabib Nurmagomedov, now 28-0, with the win over Dustin Poirier? I admit I was skeptical about him for a long time as his record was mostly against guys I never heard of. But he’s changed my mind. I can admit when I’m wrong, being wrong doesn’t bother me, and I was definitely wrong.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is a beast. Maybe the best the Lightweight division has ever seen, and at age 30 he still has a few years left to keep proving it. Hopefully he’ll know when to quit, like GSP did, and not hang around getting his ass beat the way others have. There comes a time in everyone’s life when you have to come to realize that you just can’t do it anymore at the same level you used to. Hopefully that won’t be for a few years, as I am now a fan, and I hope he continues his reign and dominance for as long as he can.
