Nothing like starting off this beautiful Sunday morning with a Twitter rant. I don’t expect much by way of amenities from a free service, but I would at least like the ones we have plus the ones they force on us to work the way they’re supposed to. Barring that, and believe me there’s a LOT of barring that, a method by which we could report problems would be something I consider necessary. Important even.

Twitter actually has a form by which we are supposed to request help or inform them of problems. I’ve seen it.  However, I defy you to actually find it if you have an issue. I have an issue. For the past several days I, and at least one other member, have been unable to access my Favorites application. I click on it, the little loading circle chases it’s tail around and nothing happens. So, I take myself off into the neverland of Help Resources.

Under “Welcome To Twitter Support” there’s this nice sub-topic called “We’re Here To Help”. Oh! Sorry, I was distracted by that pig flying by my window. Anyways, under the nice sub-topic there’s a video, some links to “Known Issues” and “Status Blog”. So, I check known issues and find nothing listed about Favorites not opening. There’s all kinds of issues listed, but none that apply to me. I check every link I can find in “Help Resources” and not one of them takes me to the request form. Someone tweeted a link to it back when I didn’t need it. I should have Favorited that tweet. Scratch that. Wouldn’t have helped in this instance at all.

Back on my Home page, sheer bullheadedness drives me to click on Favorites again and this time I’m not getting the loading circle chasing it’s tail. This time I’m getting “Something is technically wrong.
Thanks for noticing—we’re going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon.” Soon, as in my lifetime? It’s not that long a lifetime guys, I’ll be 61 years old this year. That gives you…uhhh…well…let’s just not go there shall we?

  1. A kind soul DM’d me the link. At the top of the page it says this:

    “Twitter, help!
    Found something we’ve overlooked? You may find an answer in our knowledge base. If not, use the form below and we’ll do our best to get back to you within 5 business days.” 🙁

    This time I BOOKMARKED the entire application. 🙂

    They’ll get back to me by THURSDAY? Ummmm. Yeah. I should still be alive then. Pigs flying, I think I saw one. 🙂
